Dates and numbers:
There are 30 days until your due date on August 20, 2008.
You are 250 days pregnant.
You are 8.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: November 14, 2007 to February 12, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: February 13, 2008 to May 27, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: May 28, 2008 to August 20, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby now weighs over 5.5 pounds and its crown-to-rump length is approximately 13.2 inches. Your baby's total length is around 20.25 inches at this point. Your uterus is now 6 inches from the bellybutton and the average weight gain is approximately 24 to 29 pounds.

Most pregnant women begin to feel cramped and heavy around this time and often become tired of being pregnant. Some women feel like they do not have to room to breathe or eat. You should eat small, but frequent, meals and rest as often as you can throughout the day. Your cervix will begin to dilate and efface within the next few weeks to make room for your baby's head to emerge from the birth canal. Your cervix needs to be 10 cm dilated in order to deliver your baby.
This week of your pregnancy your baby's fingernails will have definitely reached the tips of his fingers. When your baby is born, his nails may look long and pointy. Your baby is less likely to scratch himself at this point because of the lack of room in the uterus. Fat deposition will still continue and your baby is getting chubbier and rounder. Your baby's shoulders are plump at this point.
The baby begins to develop its own immune system.

Jenni, lol @ hubby getting grossed out at c-section..yeah, that's me! I get grossed out about any surgery they show on tv, but especially those! I just hope and pray I don't have to have one! Hopefully this baby will move on her own, but from what I've read, if she don't do it by 36 wks, it's less likely to happen. That external version looks scary too. If anyone's had one before, tell me about it on my page please, b/c I'm considering it over a c-section if necessary. Also, about the sex after c-section question! lol It might be a dumb question, but is it the same amount of time as a vaginal delivery that you have to wait? I mean, maybe it is b/c you're recovering from a surgery? I don't know?Jenni927 -

I couldn't sleep while my baby came to the world, cause I'd never have that first-eye contact with her to know she's mine, or hear the first cryJenni927 -

I don't think I would want to be up if they give me a c section.. I'll be too scared and I tend to exaggerate, so the 'pulling' sesnstaion will actually feel like pain to me LOLJenni927 -

Hopefully your Hubby can take care of kids while you heal? Some women heal faster than others.. So maybe you'll be the lucky one!
Yea I saw someone getting a C-section on Discovery Health and Hubby grossed out LoL.. But dosn't matter cuz he think a head coming out a va jay jay isn't a beautiful sight either LoLsoon2Bmommyof3Amy -

yeah, that's the biggest reason I don't want one. It would be hard to take care of 3 kids under 5 yrs of age after having a c-section I think. Plus, the thought of being cut open grosses me out sooo bad! lolJenni927 -

soon2Bmommyof3Amy - If you was to have the baby now they will let him/her go home wt you becuz s/he weighs 6lbs, tht all depends on the breathing though I guess..
Can't your DR. turn the baby? They be doing tht now a days..soon2Bmommyof3Amy -

Has anyone ever had an external version to move a breach baby? And if so, do they give you an epidural for that, or what?? I've seen it done on tv and it looks sooooo scary and painful but I REALLYYYY don't want a c-section, so I'm thinking if she don't flip on her own, maybe trying that? Also, another question: if you have a c-section do you have to wait the same amount of time before you can have sex again as you do for a vaginal birth? This is my 3rd, but clearly I know nothing about c-sections b/c I've been lucky enough to not need one! I sooo hope I don't need one this time either!soon2Bmommyof3Amy -

I've been to the L/D 3x's now! Once at 28 weeks w/ pre-mature labor, and twice this past week w/ the same. I've been on meds since 28 wks to stop contractions and now I'm on strict bedrest, trying to make it to at least 36 wks, where if I didn't misunderstand my doc, she said she's let me 'go'. Meaning, take me off the meds and if I go, I go. Which I'm sure I will, since the meds really don't stop all my contractions. It's a one every 4 hr. pill but I already have to take it every 3 hrs b/c contractions are so bad and sometimes I have to double up on it. And it does make you feel like crap! But having non-stop contractions w/o an epidural is no fun either. I just hope when I go see her Tues. she says, okay, you can stop taking the stuff and have the baby now! Not that I'm ready for that, but apparently this little girl is ready b/c she obviously wants to come out now! I think it'll be fine, she weighed 6lb 1oz the 2nd time I went into the hospital w/ contractions, which was a week ago, so I'm thinking she'll do fine. My first was 6lb 4oz and she was just fine. Anyways, I am getting nervous though b/c after 2 months of being head-down, she is now breach and I do NOT want a c-section, but that's what they're talking about! lnd22 -

lnd22--I actually knew when I was going to have my 1st son. I lost my plug on Sunday, saw the doc on Tuesday (was 75-80% effaced and dilated to 1), and woke up Wednesday cramping and having unexplained diarrhea. Something just told me, this is it! So, I made sure I had everything ready, dyed my hair (yes, I know it's nuts!), and actually slept on a towel for the first and only night of my pregnancy. I had read that many times your water breaks when you are lying down, not standing up like you see in the movies. So, I didn't want to ruin my bed, so I slept on a towel. Good thing, cause at 3am Thursday morning, I got up for what I must have thought was a pee break, got to the end of my bed, and realized I was soaking wet. He was born at 10:36a!liberty -

sarah> you'll do great. Sometimes the anticipation before the first time can be stressful. Relax and think about the unbelievably amazing moment that you'll have when you see your first child be born and then handed to you. :-) sarahbrockman -

sarah> oh yeah, that'll scare ya. I'm glad I don't have an audio tape of my 2nd birth when I decided to go with no epidural. Thankfully I came to my senses with my 3rd birth and opted for the epidural. I am definately getting one this time as soon as they will do it. I'm not scared at all this time (because of the epidural). I have very realistic expectations of my pain threshold. Are you opting for one, when it's time??sarahbrockman -

It's 3:19 AM here and I am in the L&D and I just woke up to the sound of a lady giving birth next door to me and I am about ready to run away. I do not think I can do this. She sounded like she as DIEING. I honestly thought this lady was going to die she was in that much agony. Please tell me she just chose to not get an epidural... Then I hear the baby go wah wah wah and no more screams but still... I'm officially freaked out now! I am afraid this anxiety is going to worsen my blood pressure. I wasn't so scared before but after hearing her I don't know...Mizzy -

hi mommies...i'm in my L&D room at the hospital writing on my laptop. I have to stay here until I have the baby which will be on Tuesday when I turn 36 weeks if the pre eclampsia doesn't get worse. They would induce me now but they just want to make it to 36. I'm getting nervous... I just don't know what to expect!!!jaleca -

Just came back from my 'surprise' shower. It should have just been my boyfriend's, because he invited all his friends and none of mine. There were like eight people there, but I got some great things. So I still have a work baby shower on Monday, and I think the turnout will be great judging from my registry. lilmamajess- it looks like we are going to eat your baby dust. Good luck!Jenni927 -

I'm scared something is wrong, but I don't want to bother nobody to take me to the ER.. Hubby's at work and the only other person I can call is his Mother and she's out clubbing, don't want to get in the car wt a drunk woman.. sighs..Jenni927 -

WEEK 35!!! How exciting! I cannot wait to have my baby and I see I am not alone. We slaved away on the nursery the last 2 days and I still want to put more on the walls but if she were to come now, she would have a nice room to stay in. I have yet to pack my bag or her bag...I am waiting till my baby shower which is next Sunday, when I will be 36 weeks. I only have 31 days till my scheduled c-section but my husband and I do not feel it as a reality yet. I am tired of being pregnant but in about a months time, I will be a whole new kind of tired. Okay today I had my baby shower and I got a lot of nice things. The only thing wrong about the whole thing was that the whole time we were doing the baby shower , opening presents , cutting cake, and doing games, you know all the stuff my step- mom and aunt sat over on a couch a basically complainedand snickered!!! See my step-mom had my half-brother 5 months ago and no oneever threw her a baby shower. For one she had him two months early because she drank and smoked the whole time but no one likes to mention that! and they should of had it for her when he came home or while he was still in the hospital! Anyways they sat over on the couch planning her baby shower and snickering about the games and basically being bitches!!! Oh then I had another aunt who just came to get a check from my step-mom and talked to to the baby, my brother, but not once said anything to me! So do ya'll think waiting 5 almost 6 months after the baby is born to throw a baby shower is to long to wait because everyone has already given her things for the baby but I was just hurt on how rude they were and it hurts worse when they act like that then r all nice to your face! Ugh Pissed!whatwillitbe -

plus..everytime they touched my cervix i would bleed alot more! so you'd constantly be bleeding if you did it everyday..so i would assume...i really dont know much lol especially about pregnancy...i always assumed someone (doc, nurse mom grandma) would tell me every detail every step of the way..yeah that didnt happen! so i just look like a moron when im at the doctor but i dont really care!hopeuragirl -

I had a c section last year and in my province you have to wait at least 2 years before you can give birth vaginally after a c section....soooooooo, i have to have another c section....i don't really have anything to compare it to but for me personally i would rather have a scar on my tummy (it's really small these days) than stretch out my hoo-haw......it wasn't my choice last year, the baby was 10 lbs 12 oz and she was coming out face first.....i was in labour for hours, 10 cm dialated and pushing for at least 4 hours.....very tired.....yes, you still get an epidural!!dhutchins37 -

hope--idk if thats a good idea...my doc and the nurse told me they want to check me as LEAST as possible because the more you check the more likely to get and infection you are...if you do i would definitley suggest using gloves...idk if they've checked you already but i'm 2 cm dilated and they've checked me a few times and its not a walk in the park its really uncomfortable so its not something i'd like to do everyday!Courtney.xoxo -

I'm confused..are braxton hicks the tightening in your stomach, or are they menstural like cramps? I've heard both. Anyways, I've just starting getting some sharp pains(cramping) in my pelvic area, is that just pressure from the baby, or braxton hicks..?! I hate to be such a whiner, and call my doctor, UNLESS it gets unbarable, and progresses!
