The average baby weighs a little more than 7 pounds now and is preparing for birth. You are probably as big as you are going to get and may be uncomfortable now. Most women gain between 25 and 35 pounds during their pregnancy. Your uterus is about 7-8 inches above your bellybutton now.

Although your baby continues to grow and develop inside of your uterus, there is not much room for him to move about. All of your baby's organ systems are now complete and the lungs were the last to fully mature.

If you are uncomfortable with your pregnancy at this time, you are not alone. Most women are ready to deliver their babies. It would be very unusual for you to not be uncomfortable at this time. Your uterus has grown a lot and now fills your entire pelvis and abdomen. Try not to ask your doctor to induce you, unless it is medically necessary. Your cervix is ripening in preparation for delivery and your bladder is under a lot of pressure. You may feel nervous about the upcoming labor. You will know when you are in labor because contractions will get worse when you move around and they will also get stronger and more frequent. Other signs of labor are the breaking of your water or a bloody show as the mucus that plugged your cervix becomes dislodged.

Most of the lanugo on your baby should be gone by now. Your baby still may have some on his shoulders and in the creases of his body. Your baby's toenails have reached the end of his toes. The umbilical cord is about a half inch thick and may be wrapped around him. The umbilical cord still supplies the baby with nutrients that he needs. After delivery, your baby's umbilical cord will be clamped and cut. After it is cut, he will be an independent human being and must perform all of his body functions on his own. Your baby will get antibodies from your body that give his immune system a boost.

I am being induced on thursday at 4. I am pretty nervous. They told me that they are going to start me out on some medicine that they put up in the vagina to make me dialate on my own through the night and start the induction on friday morning. Has anyone else had to do this???? This is my first so please help me out.

k so just got back from the doc's had my membranes stripped. It hurt like hell but hopefully so worth it! Come on baby . The doc could feel her hand on her head. She said i'm really tight wich worrys the hell out of me for delivery. Please god let this work. She set me for induction on the 17th. That's 10 days past my due date!!!

hotpotaaaaato, it sounds exactly like what I'm going through right now; I feel your pain! Except last night was only the first night for me to have consistent, moderately painful contractions and then about five a.m. they just.......poof.......disappear. But, like you, I feel a lot of pressure on my cervix and more 'wriggling' down there, like he's trying to get out......it's not confortable! I'm hoping there won't be too many nights of this, but I think were like three or four with my son! Dang it!

Hey, still here....we should check-in every morning to find out who is still around. You know reading the blogs, it sounds normal to have these perks of contractions- pain and then calmness. It is our bodies getting ready. Though it is frustrating, it is part of a process. After those blocks of activity I get so wiped...like this morning I am so tired and just want to veg. I don't have RLS but my arms and hands go numb every night. It drives me nuts. I have to shake them awake off and on all night! 3 days till my due date, starting to get worried he wont come on his own :( We had the due date down to the T and even know the conception date so hopefully he will be ready on his due date!

Well ladies last night I was screaming in pain and it was not contractions!! This baby was completely turning around in my belly which was sooooooo painful!!!! For about three hours he never stopped moving. My belly looked like a crazy alien. I was so tired and every time I laid down he would start painfully kicking me on that side. It was so painful. Seriously I wanted to kill him. After 3 hours I came downstairs and poured a glass of wine. thankfully that put us both to sleep. This really needs to be over soon. I cannot take it anymore.............

My due date is Friday and I'm neither scared or excited. Everything is ready for the most part - bags are packed, pre-registered, etc. Last week at my check up I wasn't dilated or effaced and I'm not having any contractions that I know of. I'm content with the idea my little girl will be late, actually, I was hoping so b/c I'm such a procrastinator.

I know you all love your husbands and wouldn't trade them for the world, but I have to say that I'm insanely glad I'm a single mother! I honestly doubt that I could have made it through this pregnancy with a man around....and let him live or manage to keep myself out of the looney bin. I don't know how you women do it! emb17~ I really feel ya on the MIL thing. I love mine and all but she is just soooo nosie and in my bussiness 24/7. The crapy thing is she calls me everyday and insists that she gets to be there for the birth and I don't freakin want her there at ALL! Hubby dosn't quite understand he feels like I hate his mom which I totally don't... I just need my space! At least your MIL dosn't live in the same neighborhood!!!

I'm feeling very ready for this baby to arrive now. My MIL is away for only 4 more days :-( I feel like i'm running out of time to have this baby. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be worried about when this baby turned up. I just know it has to arrive before she does or I wont get any quiet bonding time with my new little one. :-( I feel like every thing else is ready! birth pool, car seat, some clothes, bedding all washed and put away, hospital bag packed incase all goes wrong (I hope not) And if I clean this house anymore then it will glow at night! lol

Tmac~ does it feel like you need to keep moving around even tho your tired as f**K cuz thats how it is for me every F-ing night!!!! ok, I'm sick of all my labor fake-outs! On thursday night I was having consistant contractions 10-12 mins apart for awhile so I went to bed in hopes of sleeping, and woke up in the morning with nothing. grrrrrrr. Tonight I've been having contractions about 7 mins apart for awhile, but they don't hurt so once again I'm going to bed now and I'm sure I'll wake up with nothing. booooo. BUT, I do have a lot of sharp pains down on my cervix right now, baby is moving around and hopefully getting into postition, as I have not engaged yet. If I don't talk to you tomorrow, yay! LOL.. Night ladies

This list is updated twice a day. The list shows members who were online within the last 14 days at the time it was generated. It may take up to 12 hours before you see your name after you've made changes to your due date or if you haven't been online for 14 days or more.
