Dates and numbers:
There are 153 days until your due date on October 17, 2008.
You are 127 days pregnant.
You are 4.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 5th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 11, 2008 to April 10, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 11, 2008 to July 24, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: July 25, 2008 to October 17, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Thumb-sucking at 18 weeks....
By week 18 of your pregnancy, your baby's crown-to-rump length is 5 to 5.5 inches long. Your baby continues to develop fat layers and weighs about 5.25 ounces. Your baby will continue to grow and develop, but the rapid growth will slow down for a little while. You will be able to feel your uterus just below your bellybutton. If you put your fingers sideways to measure, you can feel your uterus about two finger-widths below your bellybutton. At this point of your pregnancy, your uterus is approximately the size of a cantaloupe. Although weight gain varies from woman to woman, your total weight gain at this point should be 10 to 13 pounds.
At this time if you had an ultrasound, heart abnormalities can be detected. If the ultrasound technician detects abnormalities, further ultrasound exams may be ordered to follow the baby's development. There is still space available in your uterus and your baby will be active for periods at a time. Your baby may sit cross legged or turn somersaults.
Around this time, your baby becomes more sensitive to the outside world and shows her presence through powerful kicks and prods. The bones through which sound is passed to the inner ear have hardened and the parts of the brain that receives and processes nerve signals from the ears are developing. This means that your baby can hear now. Your baby will get used to familiar sounds, such as your heart beating, familiar voices, blood rushing through the umbilical cord and other daily routine sounds. Your baby will become startled if he hears a loud sound.
If you have a stethoscope at home, you can now hear the baby's heartbeat yourself.

hello ladies, I went to the dr. today, he said I do have complete placenta pervia. I have not started bleeding so he was suprised about that. I go back for an u/s in two weeks to find out if my placenta has moved up, but the dr. does not expect it to move up any. The baby has been very active so I am very happy about that. Well everyone keep me in ur prayers please. tee34 -

So, the Dr. sent me to the ER...it turns out I have a UTI..thank goodness..got IV fluids and antibiotic, they fed me nasty bland hospital food, and sent me on my way..RELIEF!!! I can sleep tonight. Apparently the pain was/ is from the infection. SO plenty of water and cranberry and a round of antibiotics and I'm back to me!happymommy2 -

Our family and friends are on the east coast and we are on the west coast. My Mom will not commit to being there for me. Went to the dr. today..my daughter has fifth's disease and wanted to make sure I don't have it. My doc says not to worry. Has anyone else had to worry about this?? When I was pregnant with my last child I never heard of this or not to eat cold lunch meat, tests for quad screens (which came back positve) etc... This drives me crazy!!! ice-maiden -

My AFP came back negative!! It is such a load off of my mind. I have been getting quite a bit of streching/pulling pains @ night while I am trying to sleep. Mostly when I turn from side to side. Side sleeping sucks! I miss sleeping on my belly sooooooo much!shelm2 -

I would say go for it as far as starting to purchase your baby things! I am buying like one or two things a week. I have bought some jammies and glass bottles, and of course, that super soft blue baby blanket. I prefer to do it this way because then I am well stocked by the time the baby gets here and I don't have to spend alot of money at one time. Girl we have almost made it to the half way point! You should really allow yourself to relax a little bit and enjoy yourself. That baby is happily growing in there whether you worry yourself sick or not, try to have some fun!BabyMomma1008 -

I'm really nervous & trying to stay calm...this morning I felt like I was going to pass out (roo spinning, darkening, blurred vision) followed by some pretty severe cramps...I called the Dr. an hour and a half ago and left work to come home & put my feet up...still waiting, trying to be calm but I'm so scared...has anyone else experienced this?

Hi ladies, 18 weeks tomorrow and I have a question for any of you. I am pregnant with my 4th but am experiencing some feelings that I don't remember having before.
Are any of you having a popping feeling in the front of your belly? Every now and then when I am turning or lifting up my daughter I get this pop (usually to the right of my belly button). It's not painful really, just startles the heck out of me. Megan the lump maker -

I never bought anything with my first. the baby shower covered it all. If you are planning on having one, try not to buy too much bc it is more than likely that you will get it then. I had to take back almost $2000 worth of stuff!KarenVG -

I would start to buy a few things as it is pretty costly to get it all at the end, or just look for deals that would be too good to miss. I guess the alternative is to put the money you could spend away until a bit later but it depends if you are a good saver or not! LOL I got rid of my kids things too! after the first and the second, I was done after each one!!! Now here comes #3!!!nikolajayneB -

Have any of you ladies started buying things yet or do you think it's a bit too soon? I had a bleed when i was around 7wks & it scared me. In the back of my mind i kept thinking that maybe it would happen again & next time i might not be quite so lucky! I wouldn't like to have lots of things lying around to remind me of what i'd lost! Now that i'm 18wks & only 2wks away from the half way point i'm starting to think that maybe it's ok now to start getting a few things. I can't help but keep having a little look in the shops & there are such lovely things out there. My youngest child is nearly 7 & i honestly never thought i'd have anymore so i got rid of absolutely everything. I'm gonna have to start again from scratch so i daren't leave it too late! Let me know what you think xsurprsdmomi -

I'm the worlds worst house wife. I have waisted nearly a whole day just messing arround with this site, meeting people venting stress and also shopping for maternity cloths on ebay. But then after yesterday why not. I hurt my back a few weeks ago on top of which I am suffering with pubis sy thing (very painfull)I think that is causing me to loose my ballence as I have fallen over 3 times in as many days, but yesterday I twisted my ankle and today it is throbbing. So tht is my excuse. Good news is that bab has been wriggling like mad :-) I'm convinced it's another boy! I'll have to start my own sailing team. MSUSpartan -

Has anyone else had a slight jabbing pain in one or more breasts? I've had an odd pain in my right breast off and on this week. It pulses about 7 or 8 times and then goes away. It hurts, but it's not that bad. It seems to feel better if I hold my boob, which my husband gets a real kick out of. :)island-momma -

has anyone been getting streching pains? I had them a few weeks ago and then they stopped, but yesterday they came back and then last night my belly button area was sore. I feel the slightest flutters sometimes but nothing regular. they seemed stronger last week, should i be worried?Swan -

Hey girls, I haven't posted in forever. I have been super busy. However, every night I get on just to read your comments. I wanted to tell everyone that we found out yesterday that we are having a little girl. We are so excited. I am a little shocked because everyone said boy so I am just getting used to it being a 'she'. Feeling good, having some back pain already... ugh! I have gained 7 lbs and the doctor said that was great. (just in case anyone was wondering about their weight gain at this point) I am showing quite a bit now. Already purchased my entire maternity wardrobe, haha... target! It was inexpensive and they had a very nice selection. Hope this helps.BabyMomma1008 -

OK ladies...make this..toast, peanut butter and honey...I'm in heaven! Late night snacks at their best...seriously, I love being pregnant. Everything tastes so damn good!! The best part of my day was finally getting some BBQ! My college had orientation today and they fed me pulled BBQ pork sammiches...yum. Really..yum.
Funny how my posts are usually about food....Kaylaaa -

I think the rule of pregnancy is if your unsure, CALL THE DR. it really is a case of better to be safe (or paranoid) than sorry.
I'd rather look like a needy pregnant lady that got frightened at the slightest new sensation than not want to make a fuss and end up missing a complication or prevent something horrible from happening :)crazylife85 -

Hey, I dont know if I am 17 or 18 weeks! My last period was the 16th of Jan, which would be 17wks. However, my ultrasound said that I am 18. Which one am I? Is it still useful for me to have my ultrasound to determine gender next Monday? Congrats to all and I pray for a healthy development and birth!!!! :)relientA143 -

Need some advice PLEASE!!! About 2 1/2 hours ago I started having crampy pains and a feeling of pressure like I have to go #2 (sorry if TMI) even though I don't. No bleeding, but haven't felt baby move today either (that's not that alarming since I'm not feeling him regularly yet anyway). But the pain is starting to freak me out. Would I be a complete psycho to call the Dr.? Is that type of crampy pain at this point normal? BabyMomma1008 -

Hey girls! I haven't been posting much lately... it's been hectic. I graduate on Saturday, and we're also doing our commitment ceremony that day (the only way our families could be there). Crazy! On Friday we're going for a 4d ultrasound, so my mom can see the baby (she lives out of state). I'm so excited! Anyone else thinking of doing one of those, or had them done?
