Your baby's weight has doubled in two weeks and now weighs about 3.5 ounces! The crown-to-rump length of your growing baby is 4.4 to 4.8 inches. If you spread your hand out opened wide, you can see about how big your baby is.

Your uterus is moving up and is now approximately 1.5 to 2 inches below your navel. You are showing more now and there is a noticeable swelling in your abdomen. At this point in your pregnancy, a 5 to 10 pound weight gain is normal. Other people can probably feel the difference in your lower abdomen if they were to rub your tummy. To be the most comfortable, you should be wearing maternity clothes or clothing that is too large for you. You may have felt your baby move already. However, you might not feel it move every day at this point. As your pregnancy progresses, movements become stronger and more frequent. Feeling your baby move can help reassure you that your baby is doing well. You might also notice that your gums or nose bleed occasionally. This is from the increased blood volume that puts pressure on small blood vessels and capillaries.

Huge changes continue to take place within your developing baby. This week fat begins to form and will continue to do so until he is born. Fat is important to the body's heat production and metabolism. Right now, at 17 weeks, water makes up about 3 ounces and fat 0.018 ounces of your baby's body. In a baby at term, fat makes up about 5.25 pounds of the total average weight of 7.7 pounds. The placenta is continuing to grow at an amazing rate. The placenta will continue to develop in tandem with the fetus and it will weigh more than a pound at birth! By this week, the placenta is large and well established with a network of blood vessels that exchange nutrients and waste.

The eyes are facing more forward. The ears are now close to their final position.

Your baby is more flexible with ability to move head, mouth, lips, arms, wrists, hands, legs, feet, and toes.

Fingerprints are forming now.

I just think that maybe he may accept it more when baby is finally here, and he's actually got summat he can see with his own eyes to make him realise that he needs to be more responsible.

little mummy he will.... mine said the same thing he wishes we could still go out stay out late whatever and i reminded him how much more special it was to have this little angel this morning he woke up before me and just laid on my tummy with his hand where the baby is trying to feel it move (he knows the baby is more active in the middle of the night and morning) anyways it will work out! Keep yourself happy for you and your wonderful little one they don't want mommy to be upset :-)

Hey tjones05, I know what you are feeling because my DH and I have been on restriction for spotting as well. It sucks. Actually I just asked my m/w today if she thought I could have sex because the spotting seems to have slowed. I also asked if I may begin walking again. She said it was fine as long as I take it easy and to monitor to see if any bleeding occurs. No sex is the worst though. I am hoping for some marathon luvin' this weekend when DS goes to bed. :)

Hello Ladies, I felt the baby for the first time a few weeks ago just before bed and again last night. It felt like someone was knocking on a door 3 times in my stomach. It was pretty cool, I think he/she was telling me it's time to go to bed. I am getting so impatient for my ultrasound on the 15th. My birthday is on the 12th and I can't wait to know what were having. This will be my belated birthday present. : )

hey everyone....i feel movements alot now...and actually last night i felt the baby moving across the top of my stomache on the inside....i was trying to sleep and it felt like a rock moving inside mystomache haha..it was amazing...i get paniced now though when i dont feel it move...

sbs is shaken baby sydrome....its good to watch the tributes to make yourself aware of what can happen while your baby is left in the care of others, but definately not if it will upset you too much...on a happier note, only 2 more weeks til my scan, time is going soo slow i just wanna find out the sex right now lol....ahhhh i wish i wasnt so impatient sometimes

I think I can tell the difference between a kick and gas now. Every night around this time I feel something swimming inside me. I hope it's the baby because I know it's not my pulse or gas. it's down low and feels normal.

for all of you with men problems hang in there... I went through it at first, I was just like look either you are in or you're out either way the baby and I are in this together. Anyways I knew he would be a wonderful father once the baby was here but I need the support now. He has totally changed so sweet, cooking dinner, buying little baby things when he goes to the store- honestly I couldn't ask for more... just be honest and true to yourself and your baby and let him see how much you love that baby and how the baby is part of him. God has a plan for us all keep your faith and everything will work out the best way for everybody!!!

little mummy- I feel the same exact way! Also still haven't felt the baby yet either. But yeah I feel really sensitive to everything now and needy. I try not to but can't help it and I tend to get emotional quicker. Sometimes I'll cry just telling someone about how I'm feeling. I don't want my bf to think I'm crazy so I just keep most of it calm to myself. It's not like he's near me to understand. I just don't want to push him away with all these hormones. Sometimes I think us having hormones is a test to see how we'll cope and adapt with our significant other... It's like most people I know are married but once they have a kid they see each others true colors. I'm actually happy to have a baby before marriage because it'll test us for sure to see if we'll cope better during hard times. Idk LOL I'm rambling.

I find myself cryin myself to sleep alot too. I just want to feel like i'm being considered by him rather than just being dismissed as i tend to feel. I wonder at times if the hormones make me feel worse. I start alot of arguements and alot of heated stuff is said on both sides but then we say sorry. I'm just worried that things are going to end badly if we keep going on this way without sitting down and discussin it properly.

Hello everyone hope everyone is keeping well I'm just going into week 17 and am a little bothered that as yet have not felt any movements. This is my third pergnancy and with my previous i felt movements at 16 weeks with the 1st and 15 weeks with the second. Is it common to have not felt movements at this point.

I'm in the same boat with my man too. It's like he's drifting away and it's even harder because we are in two different states. I usually talk to him everyday on the phone. I usually wait for him to call but he barely does. I go for days without talking to him and it makes me feel neglected... I stayed up waiting for his call and be hasn't called yet. I hate these hormones I'm feeling alot more sensitive. I cried to sleep lastnight . What's wrong with me.

Know where you are coming from on the man front!!! It's a total nightmare for me right now, i keep wondering when it's going to end, it's supposed to be a happy time but i'm always sad coz my boyf wont talk to me about the baby or anything. Feel rather alone at times.

I hope things get better for you. I guess in some ways I am lucky that my man is already gone? Men can be very incensitive at times and they seems to forget or just not understand what you are going through when you are pregnant. Hang in there terriann! It will get better!

I felt my little one move for the first time on my birthday (3rd oct) was such a lovely present, and since then i have been feeling more and more each day, i have my 20 week scan in 18 days and i cant wait to find out what we are having, i have 1 daughter and 3 sons already so i really have no preference but my daughter would love a sister.

I'm still awake at 3:37am. I can't seem to sleep and I often wonder if the times I'm feeling down are more then just hormones. I find myself crying way more than I usually would and feeling miserable most days. I wonder if I'm just having anxieties. I hope it goes away and that it's not depression . Finally on week 17 whoop! Hope for next ultrasound the baby is actually awake and cooperates so we can find out the sex! Still haven't felt it move and wonder if that's why I can't sleep.

Hi ladies! I was getting worried that I couldn't feel the baby move all the time and overnight it started to happen all the time. I actually woke up last night becuase the baby was moving. It is such a wonder feeling I love being a mom already. Can't wait to hold my beautifil little one!

tjones05 im surprised ya doc restricted u. i had quite alot of spottin before n ma doc said regarding sex jus make sure it aint rough and u shud b ok. its only wen it gets rough tht it can actually do any damage.hope this helps. xxx

Hi week 17 it's great to be here! STILL not showing or feeling the baby move, anyone else like this? I was quite worried till I saw my midwife last week and she said both were fine as this is my first and things can take longer. Can't wait to have a baby bump.

Alright anyone else not been able to have sex with their hubby like me??? My doctor restricted it and also working out.. I haven't had sex (TMI) with my hubby in almost 4 months now.. I am losing my mind!!! Every time I go back to the doctors they keep saying maybe we will lift the restriction next time you come back, and well they never do.. He restricted it because I was spotting so much...and well I am sure when he does lift the restriction I'm sure we both will be to scared to...

Thanks!! My pain is mainly when I sit down. I also have the severe lower back pain. We leave for Europe next Saturday and I hope I don;t have to many problems when I am gone.

I seem to be very tender on my lower stomach. I can't seem to wear any pants or underwear that go under the belly. It puts pressure down there and is very uncomfortable. Anyone having that problem??
